Does my baby have herpes?

Hi,
I’ve been back and forth to the doctors all week with what started or looking like a bite on my daughters tummy is now a big rash and is spreading (see photos). She’s been given creams and a wash to use and a prescription for medicine tomorrow. She’s been a bit fussy these last two days and sick twice (not a lot just milk) but otherwise she’s fine, still laughing and talking away. When the doctor seen her today he said she doesn’t look or seem I’ll so he’s no worried and for us to just keep an eye on her but as us parents do I’m worried sick. Has anyone else been through this? Was your child ok? Did it just go away on its own? Any help and advice would be massively appreciated. And before anyone asks i don’t have a clue where she’s got it from as she’s only really been with us and none of us have had a cold sore. She’s 7 months old for reference. Thank you

@Wnikat oh really? I have no experience with this. Is it harmful? Is she going to be ok do you think? She hasn’t had a temperature

Bless her that looks very sore.
If they have diagnosed herpes, I guess that's what it is.
Hopefully the treatment will get rid of the breakout fast.

Sounds positive that your doctor isn't worried though so try to relax and not worry to much

@misssunshine4040 i know it looks awful bless her but it doesn’t seem to be bothering her apparent from her being a bit fussy as in she hasn’t been trying to scratch it or anything. I just worry so much hearing so my horror stories about cold sores in babies or if it’s meningitis and not been picked up. Hopefully the cream and medication works and clears it up soon but I’m worried sick at the minute. 🥺

The location made me think shingles. Has she had chickenpox, even one spot?

Totally understandable, I would be exactly the same. Hugs for you both

@eurochick the doctors initially said the same. No she’s never had chickenpox. It started off looking like on little spot/bite but then turned to this 🥺
