I'm going to cause my son to miss his grading :(

My son is due to grade in karate in March but to do so he has to go to lessons 3 times a week, every week. If he doesn't, his attendance will be too low and he'll have to wait until June.

Thing is I have come over with flu I really feel terrible, can hardly lift my head without feeling like its going to explode. I had to force myself to go to doctors this morning just to get something to take the pain away.

As a result, DS missed karate on Monday. I thought it would be ok to just miss one class...anyway he's due to go again tonight and I honestly don't think I have the energy to take him its a half hour walk in the peeing rain, doesn't finish while 8.15pm by which time its going to be bitterly cold...

If he misses ANOTHER lesson however its unlikely that the sensei will allow him to grade in March.

There is nobody else that could take him.

Do I aplogise to DS but explain he can't go tonight or drag myself there?

are there any MNetters nearby? Rally the troops as it were?

Can the Sensei not pick him up etc

Could you get a taxi, just this once?

I doubt that the senei will do it, as he will not be insured to transport students.

perhaps there might be someone else in the class who would be willing to pick him up and drop him off... it's worth ringing the sensei if you can and just checking.

Also, if he knows that it is YOU that is unable to bring him, rather than your ds losing enthusiasm, he may be more willing to give him the benefit of the doubt if his grading is borderline...
