Nappy recommendations - leaking!

Salvia89 · 29/06/2022 17:25

Hello,

My 3 month old girl is currently in Aldi size 3 nappies and can leak wee numerous times per day (she’s on her 3rd outfit today!). When I had my hairs girl 5 years ago she was always in Aldi and they never leaked!

Not sure if they’ve changed them or the girls are just different shapes, as DD1 was a real chubber 😂

Either way.. what are peoples recommendations for non leaky nappies?

Size up? Does that help?

mummymummymummummum · 29/06/2022 17:36

Different babies suit different brands. Trial and error I'm afraid!

I think that might make it worse as sometimes when she lifts her legs you can see a gap between the nappy and her leg.

Will definitely try different brands but if there are lots of recommendations here for the same brand I’ll try them first!

Id size down. Is her weight within what the nappies advise?

20viona · 29/06/2022 18:02

Size 3 at 3 months old sounds huge to me but my daughter was quite small. Any chance they are too big?

bellamountain · 29/06/2022 18:02

Tesco! Aldi changed their nappies and they are no way as good as they were with my eldest. Tesco nappies have been great.

Teaandcrumpets95 · 29/06/2022 18:05

I'm a fan of sainsburys own brand!

Was using tescos prior and had far more leaks, now we just get the occasional due to poor positioning (little boy).

TiredInPerpetuity · 29/06/2022 18:06

I love sainsburys own brand ones, they're great

ECPCR2 · 29/06/2022 18:06

Agree size 3 at that age sounds really very big so worth trying out 2 again for a while and really playing around with how they're done up. Also agree that Tesco own nappies are very good.

I completely sympathise with the incessant leaks though - when my DD is between sizes it's just endless outfit changes...

Salvia89 · 29/06/2022 18:25

She’s 91st percentile, so is a big baby! She’s comfortably in 3-6 month clothes. She’s well within the weight limit for size 3s and they look right on her whereas size 2 look tiny so that’s not the issue.. dont think so at least!

Interestingly she never leaks at night so it’s definitely to do with the wriggling.

Will give Tesco and sainsburys a go and see how we go. It’s annoying you can’t just buy a few at a time!

Tesco own brand all the way!!!

CornishGem1975 · 29/06/2022 18:31

I tried all of them on my 99 centile baby Confused and the only ones that didn't leak were the Pampers ones. You can get the + ones which is not bigger sized but more absorbent, I think.

Patty101 · 29/06/2022 18:31

Another vote for Tesco's own brand

Sbena · 29/06/2022 19:23

I like Asda and find them better than Tesco. They have the stretchy bit at the back on all the sizes (tesco only does for size 1 and 2), so that helps a bit with the poonamis that shoot upwards

chillichutneysarnie · 29/06/2022 20:26

Yup Tesco and size 3 sounds right to me

FT123456 · 29/06/2022 20:29

I really like Asda own brand nappies

Salvia89 · 29/06/2022 21:20

Tesco, Asda and Sainsburys on the list! I shop at all 3 to mix things up so will get a pack from whichever I go to next

Another vote for Tesco - I prefer the rascal & friends ones, they are thick and soft and cottony, compared to the basic ones. However have used both and neither leaked :)

DaphneeBridgerton · 29/06/2022 21:31

Pamper just brought out a new range that prevent poonamis apparently

babyrocket · 29/06/2022 21:38

We had the same problem. Moved over to sainsburys and never looked back.

Salvia89 · 29/06/2022 21:38

I’m not a big fan of pampers, as they have a horrid smell! So many times I think she’s done a poo but actually it’s just wee.

The issue I have isn’t actually with poo.. more the wees that leak.

Have you tried sizing up in her vests?
If they're even a smidge too snug around the nappy area they can scrunch the nappy up and prevent liquid from properly absorbing.
Worked a treat for us.

TheGlitterFairy · 30/06/2022 06:24

Pampers baby dry then pampers active fit here - we’ve only had a couple of leaks in the last year and then have sized up

anon2022anon · 30/06/2022 06:32

I had a chunky girl who is heavy wetting, Morrisons worked best for us. Tesco were slim fitting, Aldi leaked, Asda were okay but Morrisons came up higher on her tummy.

MsSquiz · 30/06/2022 06:40

My 2.5 year old has worn pampers throughout - nappies & now pull ups. She's never leaked at all.

I've also now got my 9 week old in them.

I've never had any issue with the smell though
