Any idea when they grow out of this because it's extremely annoying?!?

Her hearing has been checked and it's fine, I'm 100% sure she is hearing me. A million times a day we have a conversation that goes something like...

3: Where's my teddy bear?
Me: I think it's on your bed.
3: huh?
Me: you left teddy on your bed this morning.
3: huh?
Me: teddy. It's on your bed.
3: What did mummy say?
Me: What do you think I said?
3: Teddy is on my bed.
Me: yes.
3: ok.

I gather it's part of them learning conversations and processing language but when will it end???

I think this is normal. In your example it sounds like she isn't focussing on what she's saying but I think kids usually do this because either they don't understand fully, they want more information or they want to anchor the information in their brain and so ask to repeatedly hear it. I usually try to put the same thing in a slightly different way or add more information. You could also ask a question to stem the flow of their questions.

My son is deaf, and I genuinely thought his hearing aids were defective, only to find out that it’s actually really super normal and something to be encouraged as it’s part of auditory processing.
annoying as heck though. 🤦‍♀️
