The signs of CMPA?

I'm probably going to sound so dramatic here. But I've just had lunch with my friend and she's no paediatrician let me say. But I was telling a funny story how my little girl did a poo and it squirted so far it went over my shoulder. She then said that's not normal, how many times does she poo. To which I replied every other day, sometimes twice in one day. Few times they've been watery which I asked my GP about and said it's normal and something may or upset her tummy. My friend then thinks my daughter has a cows milk allergy because she also has a congested nose as I was getting snot out of her nose. So now I'm home and I'm slightly paranoid incase my daughter does have an allergy as her farts also smell like a grown man's. She's never lost any weight either, she's only ever gained. She wqs 7lb 1 born, at 9 weeks old she was 11lb 7. She's on 3 and a half/4oz bottles every 3 hours

But to add, she's hardly sick, no blood in poo. She's happy, has her cry moments but that's because she's an overly clingy baby. Likes contact naps and cuddled to sleep. But what are the signs of cows milk allergy? I was going to go to my GP regarding her congested nose as it is getting snotty and I am using saline drops.

If I'm being a paranoid mum, please tell me😂

That doesn't sound like my experience of CMPA - which I don't want to suggest is definitive by any means! In our case there was nothing but diarrhoea, never once a normal poo. Then there was some blood in it. Struggled to gain weight. Instant improvement after removing cow's milk from her diet. She grew out of it by about nine months.

My DD did gain weight as well, however she was constantly screaming in pain.

Generally symptoms are either gastro related (lots of wind, mucous in poo, pain etc.) for non-ige allergy or affect breathing/eczema for ige allergy.

DS gained weight hand over fist but was breastfed so it wasn't quite as obvious that it was cmpa till weaning started. He didn't have a solid bowel movement till months after we removed dairy from his diet. He also have very bad reflux and cried a lot. He struggled to sleep lying down and would not tolerate the buggy or carrycot only a sling.

My little girl doesn't have any of these signs really. She doesn't cry all that much unless she's hungry and you aren't hurrying with the bottle😂 or if she's overtired and fights her sleep, that's when she cries most. All fine regarding being in her pram, loves it infact. But I am going to go to the doctors regarding her poo being a bit loose and her congested nose. She's had milk spots, but they aren't bad and come and go which again I was told was normal. My friend has just made me slightly paranoid

I know this is an old thread but just wondering what the outcome was? My little boy is currently 4 weeks old and has congestion, runny yellow boys and discomfort passing wind and poo.

thank you!
