Fixing routine

Hey guys,

So I need some suggestions on how to reset our routine.

We've recently come back from a week's holiday and the routine is ruined haha.

On holiday DS slipped into a bit of a routine of not going to bed until 9pm onwards and waking up around 8am. He's 11 months old, still takes 2 naps a day.

Now at home he's going to bed at around 9pm onwards and today he didn't wake until 9.30am. It seems like his bedtime is just getting later and later.

I've tried cutting his naps down to make bedtime earlier but then he fights going to bed and takes 45 minutes plus to settle which then results in a late bedtime which then just repeats.

I think he's also going through a sleep regression as getting him to sleep in general is a challenge and we've had some 1 nap days because he's absolutely refused the 2nd nap.

I haven't tried waking him up earlier yet because I was worried if he doesn't get enough night time sleep he'll be overtired and resist the naps even more. I'm just at a bit of a loss here. Anyone else been through similar and have any tips?

You just need to start waking him up earlier.

@Flopisfatteningbingforchristmas yeah I think I'll have to try that tomorrow. It's annoying because he was in such a good routine before our holiday 😂

Yep wake him earlier, I wouldn't go straight from 9:30am to 8am though, maybe start by waking him 20 minutes early and then see how it goes.

What was his normal bedtime and wakeup time before holidays? Don't worry, it's good to go with the flow and do what you need to do to have a great holiday, you'll get back on track again now that you're home!

@shivawn that's a good plan! I'll set an alarm for 20 minutes earlier tomorrow and see how it goes!

Before holiday it was usually between 7 and 8pm with wakeup between 6.30 and 7.30am. Yeah I'm glad we did go with the flow as the later bedtime on holiday was perfect! Just stressful as I go back to work next week so maybe I should've booked a bit more annual leave haha
