2 year old woken up with brown patches on her legs?

Hey, does anybody have any idea what this is? It's just appeared out of nowhere, definitely wasn't there last night. I'm not too worried she's not in pain or anything but it would be good to know. I've attached some pictures, they're light brown

It could possibly be citrus on the skin that was then in the sun? Sounds a bit weird I know!

SandyWedges · 23/06/2022 07:27

Looks like something was on the skin? Maybe? The pharmacist might be able to help?

RestingPandaFace · 23/06/2022 07:27

Was she in the sun yesterday?

Does anyone who saw her yesterday wear fake tan?

Razputini · 23/06/2022 08:00

We were out in the sun a little while yesterday but she was covered on her legs with trousers, never had anything citrus and we only saw her great nana, so nobody who wears fake tan 🤔 thank you for the suggestions though I hadn't thought about that

Could it be hives or a rash or some sort of allergic reaction? Insect bite? Is it raised or smooth?

Stupid question but have you tried washing it off?

Could it be colour from the trousers or her pyjamas?

I'd get it seen to be honest if you can't figure out what it is

BertieBotts · 23/06/2022 10:11

Did the trousers have a pattern and does it match that?

WhatTheHeckShrek · 23/06/2022 10:13

Could it be this?

Lindy2 · 23/06/2022 10:17

I think I'd get a pharmacist to have a look - after trying to wash a bit off first, just incase.

MrJi · 23/06/2022 10:21

It looks like patchy tanning, or maybe colouration due to contact with something. Could it be dye transfer from her trousers ? There is no inflammation at all, so it looks like either pigmentation or something actually on the skin.

I always assume human error after an excruciating emergency orthopaedic appointment for dd3 who had swapped a shoe at nursery.
Blush

BlueChampagne · 23/06/2022 11:43

Dandelion sap leaves marks - is that a possibility?

Razputini · 23/06/2022 19:38

@WhatTheHeckShrek My mum's thinking maybe allergic too. Not raised or anything, just looks like the skin is changed colour with nothing else. I did change the bed sheets last night but I didn't use anything new. Maybe a possibility though, since it's only on her legs and she slept only in a pajama top.

Weirdly I've actually got it on my stomach now too?!? I don't feel unwell or anything. I'm actually wondering now if it's pregnancy hormones? I'm still breastfeeding my 2 year old, maybe this is those brown patches you get from pregnancy and the hormones are passing through the milk making my 2 year old get it too. No idea if that's a thing but that's what I'm wondering now since I've found it on myself

Will definitely take her to see someone if it gets worse, gonna see what it's like by tomorrow morning. I've tried to wash it off but its not coming off.

If you’ve both got it then it could be pityriasis versicolour, which is fungal.

ZealAndArdour · 23/06/2022 20:00

ZealAndArdour · 23/06/2022 20:01

Are you sure you’ve got the same thing on your belly?

Razputini · 23/06/2022 20:05

@ZealAndArdour it's identical in shape and colour so I have to assume to. Thank you so much for the link on the fungal infection I'll put some antifungal cream on us both tonight just in case that's what it is. If it is that you're a lifesaver I would have never thought of it being fungal!

ZealAndArdour · 24/06/2022 10:19

Can you get both of you in to the GP today to get them to confirm if it is that?

It’s still quite unusual for you both to present with pityriasis at the exact same time in the same shape, so it’d need conforming and both prescribing treatment for it.

Did you ever find out what the splotches were on yer 2 yr old?

Razputini · 11/08/2024 08:43

@Gramsbabies hey, I'd actually completely forgot about this haha, she's 4 now. So my memory about it isn't great about it but I think it was have been absolutely fine because I don't recall having to take any medications or anything and I think it went away pretty quick. Just one of those weird things
