1 year old won't sleep in his cot

My 1 year old won't settle in his cot (the cot is in my room) he will fall asleep on me or on my bed but as soon as I move him to put him in his cot he wakes up and just cries until I give in and for my sanity put him in my bed occasionally he will sleep for a couple of hours in there but then he'll just cry until he's back in my bed

I'm thinking maybe he prefers my bed because he likes the pillow and duvet so wondering if I could get a small set to put in his cot - he usually wears a sleeping bag

Any advice would be greatly appreciated my partner and I would really love to have our bed back

Thanks

An ikea cot bedding set isn’t going to perform miracles- with cosleeping he almost certainly likes you, not the pillow and duvet! As he’s over 12 months it’s safe to give him one if you want to try it but if you’re adamant on getting him out of your bed and into the cot you’ll probably need to consider sleep training.

He is more likely to be enjoying sleeping next to you. I would put a mattress on the floor, cuddle him to sleep and then ninja roll away.
