Why did you decide to have a second child?

My son is 6 weeks old and colicky and I can hardly bear another second of this.
Other people experience the same and I wonder why people decide to have more than one.
Sorry for being negative. I just don't get it...

It took almost 4 years to even contemplate doing it all again. The reasons why are twofold, 1) we didn't want our son growing up thinking he was the centre of the universe and everything revolved around him and 2) we didn't want him to have to bear the burden of looking after/out for his elderly parents alone!

I'd decided I wanted another one before having my first. He's 8 months old now and I haven't questioned that decision yet. I've been really lucky with him though, he never had reflux, has never been sick, hasn't even started teething yet. Was a crap sleeper for the first 4.5 months though.

The early weeks are so so hard. Nothing prepares you first time and it feels like it will never end. But it does end and you realise that time is comparatively short in the grand scheme of things. We have 3 years between ours and the bond between them makes it so worth it.

I'm expecting our second around Christmas, we'll have a 4.5yo age gap. DS was a tough baby, cried a lot, didn't sleep well, I had a terrible birth experience and actually with the last couple of years it hasnt felt like the right time to have another one. All my mates with hard work first babies all got easy ones second time round so fingers crossed!

DD1 was high needs. She turned out to be autistic.

You never get 2 the same so we had DD2! She is NT.

I had a second so my child had a sibling. It has been the best decision I have ever made

Well, you’re deep in the middle of the crappiest part, so it’s normal to feel that way!

To answer your question, so that she had a sibling. I didn’t want her to be an only child.
