Temperature in room

I am sure this will be one post of several similar posts with the current heat in the UK! I live in a top floor flat with huge windows either side, so we get morning and afternoon sun and all the heat rises to us. The heat is stifling in this place.

Temperature is currently showing 30 degrees in my bedroom, I cannot cool it down. Windows are wide open, fan on full blast, boxes of ice all over the place. I’m going to have to accept that my 3 month DD will likely just have to sleep in this temporary tonight and for however long this lasts.

my question is, how would you dress your baby in this temperature? Just a nappy right? Anyone else struggling with the heat? I bloody hate it!

Just a nappy - at the most a short sleeve vest at 30, though I probably wouldn't

Just a nappy at that temperature. We also used a fan (on the strafe setting) in the mega hot summer of 2020 when D's was 6 months, but some people advise against that for young babies

TulipsGarden · 17/06/2022 20:55

Just a nappy. It's not going to cool down much overnight so she'll be fine. I was just driving home thinking how stressed I'd be if I were a parent of a newborn tonight!

Remember lots of babies live in countries where it's regularly this hot, and they're fine. You can have a fan in the room as long as it's not blowing air on them, if that helps.

Thanks all, we did just a nappy last night and she was fine and actually slept for 9 hours straight without a feed - shame I couldn’t sleep through anxiety of checking her breathing and temp every second! 34 in our bedroom tonight, every single window in the place is open and we have about 10 moths in our room. How fun!

We love a sleep bag so she’s in 0.5 tog today which is basically a muslin material.

If you could send a little heat up our way that would be great! Our poor little pie is still in her 2.5tog bag and longs sleeve vest, her room went down to 16 degrees two nights ago!
Slightly jealous, I look forward to the day she will sleep on only a vest… but can’t see that happening in sunny Scotland!
Hope you get a better sleep tonight OP, it’s so hard not to worry especially with overheating!

@FTMFML you have my full sympathies! When we first took out DD home it was like that and I was just as worried about her being cold. Sounds like we need a happy medium 😂 I hope you get some of our heat soon!
