Sorry for Instagram link: www.instagram.com/reel/CekJNdkgGU5/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
I've seen this type of dummy (? If it is a dummy) quite a lot a recently and I'm not sure why it's got the massive hole...anyone shed any light on it?

Looks more like it’s based on a teat from a bottle.

I had similar ones for my girls - sure they were meant to be better for breastfeeding babies. Mine still didn't weren't interested though

When I have looked through dummy sections on websites and shops I haven't seen any like it... Do you know what they are called? Is it a specific make?

It’s a dummy. They use similar style ones in hospitals particularly NICU. I thought one of the reasons was for cleanliness, it’s easier to sterilise as nothing can get trapped.

Something to do with it mimicking the breast, the teat is a different shape to a standard dummy

Isn't that the style used in America?

Tommie tippee do some and the advent soothies are like this.

Fleur405 · 15/06/2022 22:18

We use a very similar one which is a Tommy Tippee closer to nature. It’s the same as the closer to nature bottle tests and both supposed to be better for breastfed babies (we have to combi feed). You can get them on boots. I don’t know why the hole though. And I won’t lie, it’s q bit creepy!

Yes they do look uncomfortable, for the baby and observer!!

Thanks I have now found them online...must not have been looking in the right places!

I have 10 of these, my mother in law got them from the US. Its supposed to be like like a nipple, called the "breast like soother". My baby loves them, especially the ones with the holders, as she's practicing to taking them in and out. She loves moving them in her mouth as they very soft. Not sure why they don't sell them here, they so light so not comfortable at all!
