Baby doesn't want milk in the mornings

My LO is 7 months old and he never seems to want milk first thing in the morning when he wakes up. I thought it was just because I often do a night feed maybe around 4am so he doesn't wake up hungry (he wakes around 6 for the day) but last night I last fed him at 1am and when he woke at 6 he still wasn't interested!

He usually has a breakfast of porridge around an hour after he wakes up which seems to fill him, then he naps so then sometimes he doesn't want milk until after his nap (around 10?). It just seems a v long time to go. After this he feeds normally throughout the day and at night he usually has 2 or 3 feeds.

Wet nappies and weight all fine.

I've woken up with v full boobs this morning so have had to express a bit to take the edge of. Does anyone else's baby refuse milk first thing?

My baby does this! She is 4.5 months and doesn’t feed through the night anymore! She has her last bottle about 7.30pm and isn’t interested in her milk until about an hour after she wakes up which I find bizarre! You’d think she’d be starving! Sometimes it’s a battle to get her to finish it! I’m sure she’s bored of it 😂

My LO was more interested in playing and having cuddles first thing in the morning. He's 10 months now but since he was 3 months old he's had a feed at 10pm and slept straight through until 6/7am without wanting a bottle until about an hour after he wakes up. When I spoke to my health visitor they said as long as he is getting enough formula throughout the day, plenty of wet nappies and is a good weight etc. it isn't something that I should be worried about. He now has his last bottle at 7.30pm and bed by 8pm.

My eight month old is the same - he feeds at 11pm and then might have a tiny feed at 7am and then breakfast and no more milk until 10ish. Just seems to be normal for him

Yep. As they eat more solids they naturally start to drop feeds.

Both mine dropped lunch feeds first but your baby has dropped the morning instead.

My DS is 10 months now but he started doing the same around that age! Now he doesn't have his first proper feed after getting up until after his lunch.

So for us it usually goes something like this:

7.15am wake up (sometimes he has a small feed in bed at this point)
8.30am breakfast (porridge, weetabix, toast, eggs etc something like that)
10.15 nap (around an hour/hour and 15 mins)
12 - 1.00 lunch somewhere around this time. Varies every day what he eats.
1.30/2.00 1st official BF of the day
3.00 nap (around 1.5 hour)
4.45 BF
5.30 - 6.30ish tea (varies what he eats every day)
7.00 - 7.30 BF
8.15 BF (sometimes this is just a little top up before bed, sometimes a full feed depending on what/how much tea he eats)
8.30pm bed

So he only has around 3 sometimes 4 feeds during the day and around 3-4 at night now.

At first my boobs were a bit engorged and my supply was a bit much for the first few days after he dropped the morning feed but they've very quickly adjusted.

It's crazy looking back now remembering all the clusterfeeding and now he only feeds around 8 times maximum in 24 hours 🤯

Definitely sounds normal to me OP!

Thanks everyone! Very happy to hear that it sounds normal - I will stop worrying!
