TB vaccination -side effects

Good morning everyone

My baby is having his TB vaccination (aka BCG vaccination) this week, he will be 19 days on the day of vaccination.

I’m worried about if he gets side effects (fever etc.) as I can’t give him paracetamol yet untill he’s 2 months old. What side effects did your baby have and how was baby after vaccination?

My wee girl had hers at 7 days old and had zero side effects apart from a wee lump from the injection that took a few weeks to go down.

Neither of my girls have had any side effects – with DD2 a couple of months ago, they specifically said that fever is not an expected side effect of the BCG, so I don't think you need to worry about that one.

Hi @JSerb No he didn’t have any side effects at all. He was asleep when she injected the vaccination he didn’t even feel it lol

The nurse also said she’s been doing it for a long time and never heard of any babies who needed paracetamol after.

If you are feeling nervous or worried, take a bit more time to research it. You don’t have to vaccinate to the schedule, it’s your choice and can space them out.
There are side effects but every baby reacts differently - some don’t react at all, some unfortunately will. Homeopathy is worth looking into for fevers etc
