We have a downstairs toilet that was just full f junk, I spent all yesterday clearing it out and now DS has a childs toilet seat and a step for it.

Do i encourage him to sit of stand,

hes just turned 3.

Thanks.

Sit, sit, sit.

In the early days of potty training they can't always distinguish between oncoming poo and oncoming wee. Nuff said.

sit down definately, they will take to standing up when they go to pre school/school.

Good luck!

Agree about sitting.
Also my aunt(mother of 4 boys) advised me early on in the training process, to teach him to wee in a jar so that you can carry one(with tight fitting lid) in your bag. My ds couldn't manage standing up to wee without soaking himself for ages, but when out and about he could use the jar easily.
Useful also in the car.!

I have 3 girls but I would definitely think that sitting would be the way to go
He's only little and is only learning whether he needs a pee or poo or both
It also delays the inevitble pee all over the seat as they learn to aim

He did his first wee on the toilet this morning

he was so proud and got 3 ticks on his chart! One for weeing on the loo, one for pulling down his own pants and one for washing and drying his hands by himself!

He just pooped in his underpants but thats OK, its only day 1!
