D&V - normal to be SO tired?

My DD is 22 months and has her first upset tummy - started on Thursday, she was sick once and then fine, then on Friday sick a couple of times and again seemed okay, Saturday seemed like she was on the mend but the loose bowels started and today she was sick once more and nothing else.

but she is SO tired, just laying on the sofa watching films and having avoid 20 mins of activity a day - sleeping a lot more too. Is this normal? How long does it take them to bounce back? Nothing has ever knocked her this much, usually she’s still mostly herself but with this she’s just soooo subdued.

she was checked over by a doctor who said it was a tummy bug and should right itself, but I’m worrying that she seems to be lacking energy to an extreme :(

Any advice / reassurance welcome. Thanks

Definitely normal for it to take a few days to get over. Last time DS had a stomach bug he was wiped out for days afterwards. I caught it from him and was the same - completely shattered. Plenty of rest and liquids and hopefully she'll be back to normal in a few days time.

My DS used to be prone to sickness bugs as a pre schooler which could last up to a week but my DD not at all. He was always shattered from this and took a while to get over.
i think it’s best to let their tummies rest and if they feel tired so be it. It is exhausting being poorly so try not to worry 🙂
