2 week vomiting bug

this is my first time posting, I hope it’s in the right place.

my little boy is 2 and started with vomiting while we were on holiday in Greece. Had temp over 40 for 12 hours then by the next morning fine again. Home 4 days and we both came down with horrible stomach bug/food poisoning - both being sick constantly for 10 hours. It has now been 8 days since we started with the severe vomiting back home and he is being sick still every couple of days, usually in bed at night. He has has gone 1 or 2 days in the middle with no vomiting but not fully himself. He has now (Day 8) started with diarrhea, 3 episodes in last 5 hours.

has anyone else’s children had recurring episodes of vomiting lasting so long?

111 have made us an appointment at the hospital this morning but I’m just wondering if anyone else has been here?

thank you

Friends son has this of late- turns out he has gastroenteritis.

I know a girl aged 5 who had this. Was admitted to hospital so make sure you push for tests for dehydration etc

My kids tend to have these drawn out stomach bugs. Not too long ago all three had one and our 2 year old was the worst with it, much as you describe with a high temperature early on. He would have a clear day or so and I’d think we were on the mend only for him to go back to vomiting again. Towards the end we had a clear couple of days and then two days of diarrhoea and that was finally the end of it. So hopefully you’re in the home stretch.

Remove dairy from his diet for at least 3 weeks. It can irritate the tummy. Onto bland easy to digest foods - rice, chicken (and ready salted crisps)

But I'd have a word with your GP.

I hope he starts improving, it's horrid when it's continual.

Thanks everyone. Back from the out of hours GP who has said gastroenteritis and sent for furthers tests with us recently returning from Greece. Hopefully he’s better soon!
