Reflux?

7MO Ds has been difficult to bottle feed since birth. Screamed and fought the bottles. Still fights them now. Weaning has made life a bit easier but again he doesn't like spoon feeding as much and has a strong preference for finger foods. Basically he does not like anyone putting anything in his mouth except for himself. Have seen paediatrician and spoken to HV but essentially as his weight gain is really good, noones concerned about anything. He doesn't bring up feeds a lot. Except the other day it was projectile. But the last week or so he makes a retching sound and coughs a lot like he's choking (not when feeding). And he wakes up through the night for hours screaming. Won't settle again in cot, when held he fights, screams, hits, arches his back. If he sleeps well he sleeps well. If he doesn't it's all night long fighting, 5 minutes asleep then awake again crying. Exhausted with only really sleeping one night in 3. Is this reflux? Can it get worse as they get older? Any advice is welcome. Hate seeing him seem so tired and uncomfortable. It's affecting toddler Ds sleep as well and he's struggling at nursery now too.

Sounds like reflux to me. My DD had horrible reflux, made worse by weaning initially. I found hers got really bad during growth spurts and teething. It’s not fun but it did get better by 12 months and was completely gone by 15 months when she started walking.

My DD was on infant gaviscon, didn’t stop the sick but made her a bit more comfortable. Have you tried any medication for him?

Haven't tried any yet. Noones really taken us seriously so been hard to see a doctor to try anything so will need to just keep pushing! Thank you for replying it really helps

hi! I was just wondering if you ever got advice from the doctor on this and if you found anything that worked? My daughter is the same and I can’t seem to find anything to help, she’s in omoprazol but doesn’t seem to be making much of a difference. Hope everything is okay now 🤞🏻

My dd had silent reflux and she was on the same meds I was told by the hospital that it can take up 2 4-6weeks to build up in there system and then starts to work if u don't think it's working u could go back to doctors and ask them to up the dose as it goes on the little ones weight so maybe ur little one is not on the right dose anymore Apple also makes it worse
