For the animals tattoo

Am in my 50s and for first time in life would like a tattoo - of the words 'For the animals' but, I am wondering whether to add 'For the children', to reassure own children, and all children, they are not a lesser priority. But then it would read 'For the children, for the animals'. Thoughts welcome on a snappier combination.

Size? Font? Placement?

Worth taking into account that literally no one will be "reassured" by your tattoos, no matter what they say.

Why would the kids think they're a lesser priority? That's a lot of gravitas to give a tattoo. It's your body so get what you want put on it.

thank you both. i will think a but more. font: gothic i think. size: smallish. where no idea.

Do you know what, when I became vegan in 2015 and took in just how hellish life and death is for animals in the meant and dairy industry, I thought about a tattoo and I even made a blog called 2015fortheanimals and I was very occupied with all things helping animals; giving talks, being that preachy person, sharing recipes etc. etc. and I wanted a tattoo to mark this.

I never got it. And now I'm glad because not having a tattoo is nice in a world where they are so prolific. It's kind of reversed in that once having a tattoo was unique now not having one is more unique.

Just my two cents because I had a similar thought. You don't sound sure on what you want so maybe you don't want one at all?

I'm still vegan, six years on, but I certainly don't have it as a strong identity anymore like it was.

yes, thank you, am not sure at all. it usually takes about 10 months for me to decide these sort of no going back sort of things. the vegan part is more important really, it's been about 5 years now.

To be perfectly honest with you, I think being a vegan with a "for the animals" tattoo is verging into "irritating vegangelical" territory.

I'd also think carefully about the impact that ageing skin will have on the appearance of the tattoo - they tend to look really awful once you start losing tone.

cordeliabrown31 · 06/06/2022 15:37

yes, thank you. might put it on my lower back. appears to be least aged part of body to date. never heard the word vegangelical before. made me think of vegan angel.
