Child’s dad in and out there life

Apologies for this very long thread but I’d like some advice..
so I was with my ex partner for 6 years we have a child together who is 3 we broke up because he found a new woman and got her pregnant are relationship was awful I look back now and think why? The names I used to get called like useless, you never do anything for me, your not going out dressed like a tramp etc etc. anyway it’s not about me.. so throughout are child’s life he has been a shit parent on the day we split (I got dumped via a text message) he dropped our child off at childcare knowing that maybe the last time (he obviously planned it) disgusting,. So we split a year ago and he has been in and out childs life since I set an agreement out that I wrote and got him to sign that he has to meet at my house to see our child as I do not trust him alone with him as he has been absent for a while and there is no trust there the agreement basically says to meet at my house to see him I never put a time limit on these visits but I would remain in the house and pop in and out the room he would only see him for a hour and leave as he lives 7 hours away and if he couldn’t make it for whatever he has to give me 2 days notice anyway it was going well for 2 months then the excuses started coming he said he couldn’t make it for whatever reason but turns out he was at a party, or a festival or something what could be more important then seeing your child? So there new baby is born and the dad has yet again gone absent for 3 months and is now saying he wants our son to meet the new baby and his new gf. Over my dead body is that happening my son doesn’t even know his own dad like that oh and he’s also saying he wants to take our son out for the day without me being there watching etc. I mean ladies/gents would you let him do this knowing your child doesn’t know him like that and not knowing what he’s thinking? He also says to me im
not going to take him am I?! Im
not a risk?! But then I think why would he even say something like that if he’s not thinking it? I just think it’s wrong he’s the one who walked out on our son and he thinks he can call the shots. I should also mention he’s done the vanishing act on 4 of his other children (none are mine) so does have a past history. He’s also threatened me with mediation which I replyed saying I’d love that. It’s just annoying now for our child it’s cruel and not good for sons mind not knowing when he’s gonna turn up or whatever. I should also mention he never rings or texts to ask how our son is. It’s disgusting I’m all for parent rights and both parents being involved but this is diffrent and I will protect my child like no tomorrow. What’s your view on this and how would you approach it? Obviously in a ideal world I’d like to stop contact til son is old enough to make his own mind up and it’s messing his mind up tbh and it’s heartbreaking to see it really is. Please give me some advice. Thanks
