18 month old had tick

Im a FTM, my 18 month old got a tick in his leg, when we finally noticed it I realised he must have got it from the forest school we went to which meant he'd had it for 4 days already. (it was so small we thought it was a scab from him scratching or something)
Anyway my issue is, he had the tick removed 9 days ago and they haven't given antibiotics, and today he suddenly got a temperature of 39⁰c and had been very tired, sick a couple of times, and wants to just cling and whine all day, which is very pure of character for him.
We took him to the doctors and they said there is no rash which is the classic symptom of Lyme disease, but he has other symptoms like the temp and the sleepiness and being irritable. But because of no rash they still didn't give antibiotics.
Do I push for them to give us some or see how things go? I'm so worried about him.

I wouldn't be happy with no antibiotics because there's no rash. It's well known that a rash doesn't always appear. I get that there's a downside to giving antibiotics if they're not needed, but surely the downside of potentially missing Lyme is greater? I'd be looking for a second opinion.

Ask for a blood test to establsh conclusively. I had a tick on my ankle and it never formed the bullseye rash.

@TotalRhubarb yes this is what I'm thinking. Of course I don't want to give him antibiotics unnecessarily, but surely that's better than getting and then having to treat Lyme?!

@MrsMoastyToasty so the Dr said as its been less than 2 weeks it wouldn't show up on bloods yet even if he had it?
Oh really? And did you get Lyme disease? If so what were your other symptoms?

No, luckily I didn't have it.

My cat has just had a tick removed and recieved antibiotics as a precaution.

Your child had a tick removed and has symptoms but they won't give antibiotics? That's terrible and I'd see definitely be pushing the matter.

I had a tick on my ankle following a day gardening recently. My gp threw more antibiotics than I've ever seen at me. Apparently there is more Lyme here at the moment than just about anywhere. Hope you sort it
