Is emergency childcare traumatic for toddlers?

I have a scheme at work where you can book an emergency nanny or registered childminder if your usual childcare is unavailable. H and I cannot take the day off on Thursday, so have booked an emergency childminder (unable to find a nanny which would be better as I work from home and it would be less disruptive for DD, 19 months).

I am also pregnant and I feel fairly emotional about dropping her off somewhere entirely new with people she has never met. Is this traumatic for her? Should we find another way to cover the day by any means we can? We don’t have any family nearby and our usual childcare cover is also unavailable.

I think if they are already used to being away from you it’s probably fine. Might have some reluctance at first but ask yourself if you remember who looked after you at 19 months.
