I have a sickness bug and a 6 week old baby

I wondering if anyone else has been through something similar and can give me so hope! Felt a bit iffy this afternoon and then started to get brutal stomach cramps, just assumed it was weird period pains or something going on seen as though I gave birth 6 weeks ago and haven’t had a period yet. However I got slowly worse and I definitely have a stomach bug or possibly food poisoning. Anyone have this in their house with such a young baby? Did the LO catch it? If so what do I do, will she be ok? 😭 can’t imagine how a poor baby must feel if she catches it and feels anything like I do right now.

Oh I am so sorry!! How awful!
If your baby is anything like mine, she will hopefully sleep a lot. Make sure you sleep when she sleeps and that you stay hydrated. I don't if baby will catch it but I had Covid a few weeks ago and my baby didn't seem to get it. I hope you feel OK soon!

If you’re bf it’s highly unlikely they’ll catch the bug, neither cod mine did when I was ill

I’m not breast feeding no 😩 OH is going to take the girls to his parents for the day but I don’t feel well enough to scrub the house or anything yet. My 4 YO had a sickness bug in feb so hoping she doesn’t catch it again too. I don’t understand how I could have a bug, no one else around me is ill and other than a walk and a trip to nandos we haven’t been anywhere. Could it be food poising? Are you infectious?

Oh I'm so sorry, last thing you need when you have such a LO to look after. It does sound more like food poisoning if you've not been anywhere, and the cramps sound like my experience of food poisoning in India. With sickness bugs i get more of a dull stomachache than brutal cramps.

You're still infectious but less transmissible than a viral bug IME. The good thing is baby isn't mobile so as long as you thoroughly wash your hands and disinfect the bathroom so noone else gets contaminated hands I am sure it will be OK. Try to keep her hands out of your mouth, my baby constantly puts hers in there!

Great that OH can take them out for the day so you can rest up! Wish you a speedy recovery!

@Foreveranxious22 how are you? I've been thinking of you and hope you've turned a corner at least.

I had this two weeks ago.
The sickness lasted a day, but I just felt shit for about 4 days.
My LO didn't catch it thankfully.
Plenty of water, paracetamol and sleep and sleep much as you can.

Thank you all so much for the replies, I’m feeling much better today! Just trying to take precautions so that no one else in my family catches it 😊
