Cranial osteopath in Liverpool

My 11 week old baby has always been difficult to feed. He’s been diagnosed with reflux since 10 days old and now CMPA for which he’s on amino acid formula as well as gaviscon and omeprazole!
The milk seems to be helping him a lot but it’s so thin we thicken it with the gaviscon. I’ve tried carobel but he wouldn’t touch it. (Think he’s too used to gaviscon after being on it so long)
Although his digestive issues are massively improving the sticking point is burping and milk coming back up.
he is a nightmare to burp. Won’t let you unless he’s ready and whimpers and screams when there’s trapped wind. Eventually it comes up but with a load of milk (definitely not over feeding) and cries even more.
I had hoped the carobel would work and I could thicken it more to keep it down but now I’m getting desperate. I’ve tried everything and it’s heart breaking watching him be so upset.
I do notice he mostly sleeps on one side of his head and has he head turned that way a lot more often when awake. I wonder if this is contributing to his pain as the tightness is making it hard to burp and uncomfortable?
like I said I’m running out of options and wondered about cranial osteopathy.
anyone know any good places in Liverpool or the north west and whether they think it was worth it?

Not in Liverpool, but I used this person many years ago www.deirdrestubbsosteopath.co.uk

Hi @hellsbells99 thank you for the suggestion. Chester is definitely doable.
Did you find it helped? I don’t know why but I’m scared to go for it but as far as I know, it’s very gentle on babies(?) and it may work wonders for us!

She helped DD2 a lot. I heard other good reports about her before as used her. Good luck.

Do not go to a cranial osteopath if you suspect torticollis, go to a qualified paedeatric physiotherapist.

I took my DD to Sarah at Warrington Osteopaths. She also offers appointments in Moreton on the Wirral at a podiatrists which is literally 2 mins from J2 of the M53.
We were struggling with reflux, she was on omeprazole and Carobel. She didn’t have full mobility in her neck from the cord around her neck and ventouse. Had two appointments and there was such a difference. I found it was definitely worth it. She’s also an IBCLC which was handy because we also had feeding issues (tongue and lip ties, etc). Hope this helps you!

@Nutellaspoon he can definitely turn his head the other way he just heavily prefers the other side and wonder if it’s affecting his feeding.
It’s really not something I’d usually consider but nothing seems to be properly helping him feed comfortably and wondered if it was a good idea.
i will however take note of what you’ve said and look into a paed physio first.

@neatlittlerows yes I saw her listed online when searching and heard good things so if you thought she helped that’s good. It’s very hard trying to unravel what’s allergy (which I’m pretty sure he has) what’s reflux and what’s maybe a physical thing stopping him from being uncomfortable. Just now I fed him 4 ounces (the most he’ll take) thought it went really well as nothing came up but then he got hiccups which he gets frequently and I’m pretty sure the only reason it went calmly is because he was due a nap and so was slightly sleepy whilst feeding which kept him calm for burping.

Hi just wondering if you ended up trying the Osteopath, I’m in Liverpool too and looking g for recommendations? Did it help your LO at all?
Thanks

Hi Jane

Im in Liverpool and I take my 11 week old son to Sarah at Warrington osteopaths (also in Moreton). She is amazing and so good with little ones. I have had 2 appointments and it was worth every penny. I saw an instant improvement after the first appointment. My son was suffering from colic, reflux, tight muscles down the entire left side of his body (from head to toe) and also tongue tie. He is so much better and now a very pleasant baby (he was so unhappy prior and cried every waking minute).

I still have some work to do but Sarah is right behind me with the tools I need for at home. She also isn’t pushy with appointments (some tell you to book further appointments just to take in the cash as they’re not cheap).

Happy to answer any questions.

Thanks

Popping back (under a new name 🕵🏻‍♀️) to repeat that I 100% recommend Sarah, just like @CurlyNo2. She’s brilliant and worth her weight in gold x

Hi both
thank you so much for replying, it is really helpful. My little girl sounds exactly the same never seems happy always full of wind and reflux. Sounds like it could be worthwhile making an appointment xx
