Hello everyone, today we had our 8 day old babies tongue tie cut after having difficulties breast feeding. The midwife who came to cut it said its an 80% severe tongue tue which would need cutting. We had it cut and she cried and did bleed a little but took my breast and it was less painful. However now she doesn't want to take my breast anymore and refuses and cries. This makes me so upset and I am scared she will never breastfeed again. Has anyone experienced this and did they ever take your breast again???

How long has it been? She'll take it when she's hungry. In the mean time, get into bed with her, both strip down to your pants and have some extended skin to skin time with her face next to your breasts. She'll likely start rooting within a few minutes.

Yes. My son had his TT cut at about 15 days old and refused to feed after. He also had a severe TT and had been almost 100% on ebm. I tried not to worry. We had lots of skin to skin, shared baths together then he came into bed with me wearing just a nappy. Gradually he began to feed

If she's still not feeding you could try nipple shields. They're brilliant for babies that won't latch, although you might get stuck using them.

DS never had a tie cut or anything but he refused to latch when he was born. I eventually got him to latch using nipple shields but now he's 13 months and still won't feed without them.
