Hiya,
First time posting!

I have a 9 year old daughter. Her father (and I use that term lightly) moved to America 3 years ago. We are from the UK.
Since he has been gone he has had no contact with my daughter at all. I knew this would happen anyway because when he lived 5 minutes down the road he I had to argue with his to come and see her. When he could be bothered like once every couple of months she loved spending time with him. He has changed his number and didn't give it to anyone not even his own mother. He's basically moved started a new life and left his old life in the past.

After about a year of him being gone my daughter doesn't even ask about him, she never mentions him anymore.

Fast forward to about a year ago she started asking if my partner would adopt her. This is something she asks all the time. Myself and my partner have been together for 8 years and due to get married in 2 weeks time. He's helped me raise her since she was 1 years old. She's recently been diagnosed with autism and needs stability in her life something her 'father' has never been able to provide her.

I've looked into adoption and it says if the absent parent hasn't been apart of the child's life for 5+ years then it would be considered.
I'm just wondering if anyone knows if with the circumstances and the fact he basically abandoned his daughter and moved to the other side of the world if this would be able to be done sooner. (We are looking at starting it all after Christmas)
The only information I have about his is he lives in Michigan with his wife and child and her kids. I don't know any address for home or phone number.

Sorry for the long post and if you've made it to the end thank you for reading.
