Red tears, Sickness, Temp... Help?

Background - for about a month my kids have had a cold on and off. They seem to just be passing it between each other. The latest one was in my youngest last week or so and progressed into a suspected eye infection with really gunky eyes but resolved on it own in about 2 days.

My eldest started feeling off around 2 days ago and I suspected the cold bug. However yesterday the sickness started and has been ongoing since, now when there is crying or vomiting the tears are either brown or bright, bright red. There have been complaints of a headache on and off for a week too. Regarding the sickness it has been atleast once a hour for the last 14 hours, I'd say the vomiting has gotten worse but it's now just bile that's coming up but more frequently (if that makes sense)

Temp of 40 before Ibruprofen that has came down to a around of 38 since about 3am. (that is its never been below 38 or higher than 38.5 since 3am) That's with paracetamol and Ibruprofen.

In themselves - a little bit more tired than usual and off food, little interest in anything other than to lie watch TV but not upset etc. Doesn't appear as ill as symptoms suggest.

Any ideas what on earth this is? Is it just a unusual bug that is effecting tummy, head, eyes etc? Seems an unusual group of symptoms so just wanted to see if anyone else experienced similar in their kids?

I should have said all tests have come back negative on my eldest.

I would call 111 urgently or even going straight to A and E if they are crying bright red tears.

So would I .

Pretty sure that needs immediate attention.... first thing it says on Google is to get it checked out asap.

OnNaturesCourse · 02/05/2022 20:24

My Google search last night led me to believe it a symptom of a eye infection or burst vessels from vomit. It was really alarming, the bright red tears, but we've not had any more episodes today.

If no better I general by tomorrow I'll phone GP.

These things always happen on a bank holiday!!

I'd be phoning 111 as well. Sight is too important to wait until the morning.

Heavymetaldetector · 02/05/2022 20:36

Ring 111 immediately

TheVolturi · 02/05/2022 20:37

111 for this.

How is your child today OP?

OnNaturesCourse · 03/05/2022 10:44

Absolutely fine today.

Slept well. Temp broke yesterday afternoon. No sickness since either. Eyes fine.

Have made a appointment to get eyes checked over later today.
