8 month old and sleep

Just after any advice/input about my 8 month old dd and her sleep - I'm a FTM so have no idea about what is normal etc.

DD currently sleeps in her next to me crib, bedtime is around 7 and wakes up anywhere between 5.30 -6.45. Has between 2-3 naps a day. I think she might be getting ready to drop her 3rd nap as she doesn't have it until 3.30pm and has started to fight it.

Basically, dd has outgrown her next to me and we're trying to move her into her cot in her room but her nighttime sleep has been getting worse and so she's still with us. We use white noise and a dummy to get her to sleep and has a feed before bed (ff) but 'drowsy but awake is no longer working. She fully wakes up, starts trying to crawl and thinks it's playtime. It is taking her a full hour to get into a deep sleep and we do have to pick her up and resettle her a few times. After about 9pm she will go to sleep properly and we do get good sleep then, she can just be resettled in her crib with a reassuring hand hold/dummy etc.

For daytime sleep we contact nap. She'll sleep in her pram when out. Due to a disability I can't carry her upstairs to her cot. She has a travel cot downstairs but just won't nap in it.

I'm just getting myself all worked up about the fact she's not yet sleeping in her cot, and that it's such a battle to get her to sleep in the evening. I really don't want to do any cry it out sleep training. Any advice?

Drop the third nap and she might be out like a light at bedtime. Neither of mine (admittedly both nap haters) had three naps beyond 6ish months, and neither did any friends’ babies.

Youngest is currently 8mo and her second nap finishes no later than 2.30pm for a 6.30pm bedtime. Seems pretty common at her nursery.

@Timeturnerplease thanks so much, I withheld dd's last nap yesterday and she went down with much less fuss. Fingers crossed 🤞
