Wise mumsnet people, could anyone share experience of how long it took for their period to come back after stopping breastfeeding. Thank you!

Following!! I stopped feeding my LO at 19 months and it's been just over a month and I'd really like my period back... TTC.

4-6 weeks pp, ex bf

Mine took 2 months after I stopped breastfeeding, but tbh I remember mentioning it in passing to a friend and hers took much longer - it seems like there’s a huge variance.

Mine decided to come back at the most inconvenient time, so if you’d like it to return may I suggest scheduling something like a sexy weekend away or some sort of formal event where you’re due to wear a light coloured tight outfit? 😄

Thanks!! I'm almost stopped, I had no feed or pump yest at all but had to pump 20mls for comfort today on one side. Im so over this stopping business! Hopefully ttc as soon as I can and getting all types of cm (sorry for tmi! -ew to creamy to dry to ew again) so keep optimistically thinking ovulation is happening but then it changes again. I'm not very patient :-D

Oh two months is longer than I would like! Its not fair some people get it during breastfeeding and some people have to wean and still wait lol. Good idea about scheduling something important!

First period when child was 7 months, I was still breast feeding but less than before as my child was gradually eating more/breast feeding less. Didn't return to a regular cycle til about 2-3 months after that though. (I completely stopped breastfeeding a few months later at around 15/16 months).

Mine came back at 5 weeks despite ebf for 3 years 🤦🏻

Terriblecreature · 30/04/2022 21:20

Mine came back as soon as I started weaning LO even though I continued breastfeeding!

AntiHop · 30/04/2022 21:21

With both my kids my period came back when I was still breastfeeding. 9 months for the first, 8 for the second.

Mine came back while I was breastfeeding. About 6 weeks after birth for DC2. It was longer with DC1 but I can't remember how long.

Hi thanks, I'm same - TTC. Have you had any signs that your cycle is starting up?

EBF DD1 and period returned at 6 months when I started weaning. She continued to BF until she was 15 months!

With DD1 BF for 4 months, period returned as soon as we stopped.
