Why isn't my baby telling me he's full?

I have a 12 week old son who is FF, and not once has he spat the bottle out or given other "signs" he's had enough. He always falls asleep at the bottle that's the only sign but after taking the bottle away he wakes up for more. I'm kind of guessing at the moment from NHS feeding charts as to what he should be having. I make 5oz bottles at 2oz I stop to burp as he's a reflux baby. He will cry and show me he's still hungry. At 4oz if I don't offer the bottle back he doesn't cry for more so I take that as he's full. Many occasions I've let him try tell me he is full by just letting him keep feeding. 5oz and even a 6oz and it was a mess constant spit up, so again guessing it was too much for his belly. Anyone have any suggestions as to why this is? I just hope I'm not underfeeding or overfeeding and upsetting his belly.

Are you doing paced feeding?

So it seems at the moment 4oz is enough for him. Just keep offering this until he starts looking for more. It's just trial and error and he is too little to communicate anything much to you. It sounds like you are doing fine.

Is he gaining weight? Wet and dirty nappies? If so he’s fine. Mine barley took 5oz at 6 months, she never followed the formula guidance charts even now, but she’s progressed along her centile well and thriving

My HV has informed me about pace feeding, but I find it impossible by time I've lowered the teat he's back to suckling again and I can hear all the air. He is on an anti reflux formula so his poops are quite hard. But normally has 2 movements a day. And always a wet diaper. He is having frequent weighings as he is on the smaller side. 6lb 12oz at birth. Then he was 8lb 10oz. But the next weighing in he had only gained 6oz in 3 weeks at 9lb 2oz. The HV isn't too concerned at the moment. I'm a FTM so everything a worry. Thanks for replying to me.
