Could this be chicken pox?

Hi everyone. Looking for some advice. My DC has been exposed to chicken pox at nursery. Quite a few cases but definitely two weeks ago one with a child who I know DC is likely to have spent some time with during the day. This week DC has come down with a bad cough and temp and was definitely out of sorts at the weekend before the cough. Did anyone else have experience of their child being ill and having a temp on and off before the spots came out. And how long did it take from possible exposure for the spots to come out! Wish it would just hurry up if it is coming!

My dd had flu like symptoms a week before the spots appeared. If I hadn't have bathed her I probably wouldn't have seen the spots to be honest because she only had 2 tiny ones on her back then a few more the next day and by day 4 she was covered. A tip one of the teachers gave me was give regular warm baths to help them come out not sure if it worked or was a coincidence.

Both of my boys had ear infections in the days running up to Chicken pox appearing

I work in a nursery and we've seen lots of cases in the last week, lots of the children had coughs and colds prior

Incubation period is around 2 weeks
