To take the presents or not?

My daughter is 2 next week, we are going to stay in a hotel the night before as we are going to peppa pig world for her birthday and it’s a long way from us. So we will be waking up on her birthday morning in the hotel, going for breakfast then heading for peppa world. My question is, we won’t be able to fit the pram and all her presents in the car for her to open on her big day.

she’s got a dolls house, sand and water table amongst other things. My options really are these.

  1. let her open them the night before, before we leave for the hotel
  2. just take a few smaller bits for her to open and save the bigger stuff for when we get home (leaning towards this option)
  3. leave it all till we get home on her birthday evening but likehood she will be shattered by the time we get home and go straight to bed
I know she will never remember and it dosnt really matter in the grand scheme of things just wondering what others mums would do

give them to her at home, she won't care about the presents anyway.

I would take a few small things to open on the morning, and then save the rest for the next day when you are home.

I would take a few little things to open, and a few balloons and banners for her to wake up to. A big birthday badge, a tiara maybe, make her feel special all day.

Id spread them out over the days to weeks after her birthday. I’d do this at 2 even if staying at home, but especially if going away. Peppa pig world will be great but a crazy amount of stimulation and I think adding new things into the mix as well will be a recipe for disaster. You don’t want to risk her either refusing to get in to the car or leave the hotel as well because she wants to play with all her new things.

@LittlemissMama67 my little girl is 2 next week as well and we are away for 4 days, we are giving her the big toy kitchen on Monday and taking a few pressies to open on the day. We have family coming round Monday so going to do a birthday cake and there gifts that day as well. It's my birthday the same day as hers so hoping there may be a little gift for me taken too. We are seeing my MIL whilst away so she will get a present from her (it's a baby annabell and she will be thrilled).

You little girl will love her day out with you and at this age they don't really understand birthdays 😀

My DD’s birthday is Monday and she’ll be 2 as well!

I would let her open the big stuff before you go and take a few small presents for the day.

Leave it to you’re home, and if she’s tired the next day.

my ds has birthday and Christmas 10 days apart and he LOVES the fact that his birthday/Christmas goes on for days

even now he’s enormous and a hulking teen, it’s better to spread things out so they enjoy things

i do remember his second birthday

he opened presents on his birthday, then 10 days later at Christmas. Couple of days into the new year and he asked if we had more presents to open. 🥰

Thankyou all
