Just that really - gonna be stuck in all week by the looks of things. We are obviously milking cartoons and snack treats for all they are worth but the days are still stretching out looooooong ahead of us. Give me your best ideas for activities that might keep a 19 month old entertained for longer than 5 mins (from my experience, that is almost nothing, but willing to try anything!)

I suspect you opened the thread hoping that would be the case though. I mean it’s clearly titled asking for help self isolating with a 19 month old. And if that’s so trivial and indicative of everyone else’s inability to deal with a real crisis as you put it, why on earth would you have opened the thread in the first place if not to moralise, tell everyone off and point out how much better you are at dealing with real crises.

FWIW I’m not advocating going out with Covid, I just think it’s a bit much when some people come onto a thread asking for help with no intention of offering help, sympathy or suggestions but just to expound the same old ‘but we’re in a PANDEMIC don’t you know, people are so selfish, why is everyone but me selfish’ type arguments. Another poster doing this whilst complaining about the ‘me me me’ attitude of others - great irony there if only they could see it.

Anyway, we’re not going to agree. But having just had to deal with ‘entertaining a toddler at home for a few days’ whilst feeling rotten myself, I feel bad for the OP and hope at least some of the posts have been useful to her.

@AliasGrape and all who have suggested ideas - thanks so much. I've done a few already, and as a pp asked, yes I am lucky enough to be able to throw a bit of money at this so I have an Amazon order arriving today with a couple of bits that I've been meaning to buy anyway, like bath stickers (we do have a full length window in the living room - bath stickers with a spray bottle is a great idea). Zero qualms about plying her with cartoons and snacks to eat up as much time as possible but unfortunately since she went off Cocomelon, nothing engages her for longer than about five mins, though I did discover today that she'll watch stuff for much longer on the tablet - hooray! And @AliasGrape, I got off Instagram and all other social media because my terribly addictive personality couldn't deal with it, but I keep hearing about all the useful parenting stuff on there so maybe now is the time to have another look

Im not saying go to Starbucks or a restaurant or sit on a bus or a tube, unmasked and breathing on people

Im talking about, Going for a walk, a WALK early morning or later in the evening.

I was a shielder and didnt leave my front door for 5 months!!!
I am CEV, had 4 jabs, and Covid will likely kill me

BUT we are talking about her going on a walk!!!!!! @pixie5121

I had covid last week. Still went to work as usual. Went food shopping as usual. My daughter went to school as usual (didn't test her as i didn't see the point). My life isn't stopping for covid any more call me selfish all you like, I'd rather be selfish and live my life the way i want too than be terrified constantly about a mild virus

@pixie5121 no i didn't and i agree with you, this country has become dystopian. The last 2 years have been awful and I'm not wasting my life away anymore.

I'd go to a wide open space... early in the day and let them run round
