Do secondary schools use iPads a lot?

My dd is in year 6 and the primary school she's at have a few iPads but the kids don't really use them. We don't have an iPad at home and I was just wondering how much typical secondary schools use them and therefore if it would be useful for her to have one at home so she can get used to using them? We have a windows computer but not an Apple Mac so she's not used to apple products.

It'll depend on the school. Our's uses Google Classroom for homework/messages etc on laptops/chromebooks, as do most schools round us. A school in a nearby town do everything on iPad and each pupil has to have one. We don't own any Apple products either.

At my school all the kids have laptops rather than tablets. It's an independent though. We do provide them for families who can't afford one
