My DS is 15 months and always poos at 9.30 am guaranteed! (also at other times of day, not so punctual! He can walk and is very good natured and obeys simple instructions. Do other MNs think it's too early to start potty training? not major, but just when I can tell he's doing a poo, put him on a potty? any advice much appreciated!

I heven't any solid advice, but I am interested what people have to say on this subject as I'm in the same boat! My DS is 16 months and I think he's ready, although I have no experience of this, so agian, is he too young? I'm also 13 weeks pregnant and unsure whether to hold out until after baby is born (he'll be 22 months) just in case he 'regresses'

I've been thinking about it for a couple of weeks, and I'm inclined to start and if he's not ready, leave it for a bit and try again at a later date, there is no harm in that surely??

I found reading Penelope Leach really helpful. She lists the things they need to be able to do before they're ready, and she also does the maths of how much effort is involved in trying too soon, versus trying when they're ready!

16 months v early for a boy. Average is around 2.5 I think - but children are all different.
