Worried FTM

Looking for some advice.

My LO is 6 weeks and 4 days old. Hes is formula fed having 150ml per feed. I am worried about him as he seems to have got a cold (sneezing & coughing more than normal) but my main worry is that he hasn't pooped since Tuesday evening. He was normally going every 2 days but its 5 days now and he still hasnt gone. The only thing is we have changed our water at home, we have a water softener that we turned off at the weekend as read online that he shouldnt be having water which is softened by salt which ours is.

He is farting quite a bit and apart from the increased sneezing & coughing, he seems his normal self. He is waking up and having feeds every 4-5 hours (having the whole bottle and not being sick), he will lie on his changing mat and wiggle his arms/legs, starting to make some new noises, not crying more than normal so wouldnt say he can be in pain (he normally only cries when he wakes up wanting milk). He doesn't crunch his legs up to his tummy after a feed so another reason why i dont think he can be in pain. His tummy feels soft, done bicycle legs and rubbed his tummy but still nothing.

We are booked to see doctor on Tuesday for our 6 week check. Do you think i can wait till Tuesday to speak to them about him not pooping if he still hasnt or should i call someone earlier? Please be kind as im quite hard on myself and just want to make sure he is okay.

Snufflebabe on soles of his feet for his cold.

Have you tummy massage and/or a warm bath?

I remember my little boy went afew days without having a poo, it is common op so don't be hard on yourself.

Ill have a look at snufflebabe for his feet, thank you 😊

ive tried rubbing/massage his tummy but still nothing but will try give him a warm bath in a bit, hes currently asleep on me.

I will mention it to doctor on Tuesday, think my husband is bored of asking him if hes gone for a poo when he changes his bum haha.

My little on used to go if I sat him on the bouncer with the vibration on.

water is not generally recommend but the gp told me to give 5mls at every feed for one day only when my little one was constipated. It done the trick.

I called the Health Visitor about this when my baby was about the same age and she said they like formula fed babies to go at least every 3 days so to call GP if she hadn't been by the 3rd morning. I'd call tomorrow if it were me, there'll be other stuff to cover at the 6 week check so no harm in treating it as a separate issue.

He literally went poo about an hour after posting this thread.

He just sounds very congested tonight with his cold & seems to cough more when led flat on his back. Currently led in bed wide awake checking on him every 2 mins.
