Would you invite 2yos to a 1yo's birthday party?

We are having a little party at home for DS's first birthday and inviting a small number of his 'friends' around the same age. One of my friends has 2yo twins, also our neighbour has a very lively 2yo. I am not an expert on toddlers, would it be a disaster to invite the older ones? Don't want to be rude and not invite them but don't want to have the younger ones trampled over!

Also his birthday is Feb so would have to be inside our (smallish) house, so not too easy to separate the older kids from the younger ones...

.....

well all the mums are going to be present presumably, so that should prevent any baby crushing incidents

I think it would be lovely to have a mix of ages.

we had 2 yr olds at ds first birthday and it was fine infact he enjoyed it more because there was a handful of 'rowdy' 2 yr olds there to entertain him!!

parties at this age are more for the parents anyway. At least I would invite the parents I wanted to spend time with, whatever age their children.

Sounds like the 2yos are on the list then!

Hopefully it will be a bright day and they can all run round the garden...

I live in a teeny tiny house, my LO is 1 next weekend. His cousins are twin 2.5 year olds....we are going to the local soft play area!

They get on fine though - we have had no problems with them mixing...yet!

More likely to get trampled - much more fun too.

2 year olds are about 10 times more work than 1 year olds, so move your ornaments, hide anything that will make a mark (includes lipsticks in handbags) and get a stairgate up - 2 year olds can reach door handles, run up the stairs and flush a hamster down the toilet before their mother has got even halfway through telling you how precocious he is.
