Possible cause of loose stools?

A couple of months ago my baby went onto comfort milk because he became so fussy with his milk and seemed to be in a lot of pain, the comfort milk definitely helped. He is 6 months old now, and for the last couple of days he has had really loose stools, more poops than usual and they smell quite sour. I read online sour smelling nappies can be due to lactose intolerance, and I have realised that over the last few days he has been having the number 3 teat and drinking his milk much faster.

So it just suddenly dawned on me, could the fact he has gone on a higher teat be affecting him if he maybe has an intolerance to lactose? Maybe taking it in too fast and not digesting it well? Or would the teat size not make a difference?

Comfort milk has less lactose than the normal milk.

Has he started solids?

Teething?
It can cause diarrhoea and sour smelling nappies.
