Jerking in sleep intermittently

I’m going to try to speak to my GP today but just wondering if anyone could reassure me. My 2 year old at times can be super jerky in his sleep, it’s totally random seemingly as to when he is like this, he can be often a little jerky for the first 5 minutes or so falling asleep but I know that’s sort of normal as his dad does the same thing, but every now and again he has a nap where he jerks intermittently throughout the whole thing. The only thing I can liken it to is my dog, he hands twitch, then his foot, then another foot and so on.

We were in a busy shopping center when he fell asleep in his pram yesterday and he twitched so much, but I’m not sure whether the environment could be impacting this as suddenly noise seemed to set him off and it’s like he wasn’t in a deep sleep. Last night at bedtime and overnight he was fine.

I’m now overanalysing his every move awake and asleep and it’s driving me up the wall. Surely if it was something serious it would happen a lot more often? It just looks so weird.

Could it be a hypnic jerk? Particularly if he’s overtired or overstimulated.I have done this all my life (I’m 51), seems not to be indicative of anything more significant. GP not concerned.
