When do you do your Easter egg hunts

Appreciate not everyone does an egg hunt and if course that's fine. But I personally like to do one.

I have three young children aged 8, 5 and 3. I've just got up before all my kids to lay out an Easter egg hunt out so they'll think the Easter bunny came to do it. But now I'm thinking they might all get up at different times and also that then the egg hunt is over and that's the excitement from the day gone. Also they won't now eat breakfast - just copious amounts of chocolate!

But if you do it in the middle of the day how do you put all the stuff out without them seeing? Do you get DH to take them out to the park for a bit or something?

My DH set it up last night for our one child dd3. When I was younger we used to do it after church so one of my parents left earlier and put them all out. But i never remember believing in the Easter bunny, it was always done quite tounge in cheek, and Jesus was the magic for Easter.

I'll do it around 9/10ish, but mainly as I'm sure the neighbours won't be too excited to hear a very over excited child too early on a Sunday! Otherwise would have done it as soon as he was up. They are lovely neighbours and never complain but try and be considerate.

All my children do believe in the Easter bunny. Strangely, even more so than Santa... It's so tricky to time it right

We did a clue trail from the "easter bunny" (although mine don't believe) with one chocolate bunny at the end each - concealed somewhere they would never look in the morning so wouldn't be found by accident.

Then we lay out the egg hunt with eggs from us and grandparents later.

Can you go out into the garden when they're all up and be like omg found something what's this? Or just say can't start until everyone is up?

On my way to bed the night before i set out their eggs in the lounge and I chuck a few small eggs up the stairs from the lounge to their bedroom doors for them to follow in the morning. I cba hiding stuff in the garden - too many cats and cant teust the weather, and I'd be finding them around the house for weeks if we did a hunt indoors.
Yeah they have excitement first thing and eat eggs for breakfast, but I can't get too upset about that- chocolate for breakfast on Easter Sunday and Christmas Day... they're special days and it's part of the excitement isn't it. They can have toast and fruit for a snack later and we're having a Greek style Easter feast with family this afternoon.

We do it middle of the day, the DC hide in the bathroom until we call them. Like hide and seek. I listen to them getting excited and planning their best routes etc.

I always lay them around the house the night before, we lived in a flat until the oldest was 5 so outside was never an option and I don't think it occurred to me to change it! They wake up to them and just hunt by themselves, they know to wait for each other. I like laying in bed hearing them go "there's some in the plant!" And have no issue with them eating some before breakfast, it's Easter Sunday!

They know we hide the eggs as they are the ones from family and us. They put their basket out before Easter Sunday and Easter bunny fills those usually with the Lidl big choc bunny and some jelly beans.

I used to do them on Good Friday 😃

My kids are teens now but we still do it! I get up early and put them out. When the oldest one finally emerges from his bed and comes downstairs I will announce that I just saw a giant rabbit jumping over our fence and that's their cue to pile outside and find them.
