Eczema spots on baby’s feet?

My 10 month old has strange little spots on his feet and I’m looking for advise. They come and go and at the moment they are particularly bad. They are sometimes fluid filled and red and bumpy. I’ll attach a pic but the pic doesn’t do them justice as it’s hard to capture them on camera.

At first I thought they might be hand foot and mouth, but they’ve been there for months, off and on, and occasionally appear on his thumbs too. He doesn’t seem bothered by them but I would like to get to the bottom of what they are.
I sent pics to the GP who wasn’t sure, and when I googled, I came across a certain type of Eczema that looked similar?
She prescribed a steroid cream but I struggle with this as he is always eating his feet and his socks so I’m wary to apply it.

He is dairy free and does have dry skin and spotty skin at times, it seems he has sensitive skin but these spots are baffling me.

Does anyone have any experience of this at all? Would like to know. Thanks in advance.

Could it be the start of hand foot and mouth?

@Whiskeypowers I really don’t think so. I initially thought it was, but he’s had them now for months and no sign of any in his mouth etc. Thank you for your reply.

Relieved for you that it isn’t to be honest as my daughter has had it twice and it was horrendous!

I think this may be it? Possibly. Hard to know how to help him with it though.

I have eczéma on get that is very similar. You really do need to use the steroid to get rid.

@Matchingcollarandcuffs thank you for your reply. Would it be okay considering he eats his feet? I’m a bit clueless about the strength of these things.

Put it on at bedtime, does he have a sleeping bag?

Yes, that's what mine is. Steroids are the only thing that help for me, put them on overnight with socks on

I get similar on my hands, but only very mildly and I'm able to manage by moisturising lots, so you could try that first?

Mine are so so itchy, I often scrape my feet in the metal carpet bar things

I hemp keep mine at bay using a foot cream that's high in urea but not sure if you can use on one so little.

Hydromol ointment was my DS eczema cream of choice, about only one he didn't react to.

Good sign they're not bothering him though. Mine are Def worse in warmer weather, get then around my fingernails too

Gosh, really hope I can work out what the trigger is for him - possibly heat and sweat on his feet maybe? I really really hope he’s not itchy but he’s not grabbing and clawing at his feet or anything? Hard to tell though when he can’t tell me.

I’ll maybe contact the GP again and ask for some advice for a baby his age - it says online it’s rare for babies and usually is more common in adults.

Looks exactly like mine. It's triggered by certain soaps. Go back to basics and don't use anything in his bath.

I have to use the steriod cream ,it just doesn't heal otherwise but clears up within a couple of days.

If he eats his feet it might be because they're itchy.

If you put him in tights or a sleep suit you would stop him eating it. And also put it on at night.

This is the cream we have.

It could be washing liquid or soap, or grass? Does he crawl outdoors bare foot? My baby gets this too.

I got something very like this when I replaced dairy in my diet for soya milk and soya products. The bisters were just like hand, foot and mouth, but I had them for months. I didn’t actually have blisters in my mouth, it was really sore and red though. The blisters would appear, fill with fluid, then sort of dry out leaving a tiny dry circle. They were not itchy or painful for me. Totally unlike any allergic reaction I have ever had. I also have excema and my steroid cream (hydrocortisone) made no difference to it. I stopped the soya products and my mouth was better after a few days but the blisters I already had took a few weeks to go. Might be worth looking into if there is soya in whatever dairy replacement your DS has, just in case it’s an allergy. I’m also
allergic to peanuts and apparently soya and peanuts are closely related, and it’s quite common for people with peanut allergy to also have a soya allergy, I just never knew!

@Scifijulai thank you so much - it sounds exactly the same!! I’ll post a pic of how they look today. So so interesting. They do fade away to a dry circle!! And some are filled with fluid.

He does eat soya and has never seemed to have a problem with it before? But so interesting that this was the cause for you. I’m keen to get to the bottom of how I can help as he was itching his feet on the carpet today - seems like a bad flair up!
