Hole under baby’s tongue??

My baby has a small hole under his tongue. It’s really hard to spot as I can only see it when he moves his tongue up quickly but it’s almost like under his tongue isn’t properly connected!? It’s really strange. He didn’t have a tongue tie when he was born and isn’t bothered by it. He has had no problems with eating, moving his tongue etc. But now I’m worried about his speech later on. I have an appointment with the ped in a week or so but just wondered if anyone else had experience with this?

Picture from Google of another baby that seems to have similar but I can’t seem to find anywhere which says what it is.

Hi I’ve just come across your post as I’ve noticed my son seems to have the same thing. He has no issues with feeding and is babbling but I can’t find much about it. It’s like his tongue isn’t connected to the bottom of his mouth. Did you have your appointment?

Hi @LS908 😀
Good to know I’m not alone with this! I agree, not much online at all about it! I did go to the appointment but she couldn’t get a good look at it because he kept trying to bite her! But she said from what she could see all looked OK. But I agree, it looks as though the tongue isn’t connected to the bottom of the mouth even though he seems to be eating / drinking fine. She didn’t seem concerned when I explained it / showed her a photo. I am going to try and get it looked at again at his 1 year check up as I’m still not satisfied because it hasn’t been properly looked at but I take comfort in the fact the paediatrician wasn’t concerned when I explained it. I would have thought she would have probably seen it before or at least knew what I was on about if it was a concern, especially as she used to be a health visitor too. Do you have a Drs app?
