Anyone want to guess at what's going on with dd?

Almost three year old dd. Last Monday she seemed to be a bit "off" but with no real reason for it. Nursery commented and said she wasn't acting like her self but they weren't too concerned. Since then she's been.. just a bit off? Her behaviour is either extremely cuddly or very angry. She's not eating very much and has been waking in the night. But there's no signs of illness, no runny nose or temperature. I've asked if anything hurts and she says no. I've tried asking if something has "upset her feelings" but she says no.

I was planning on taking her to nursery today (she only goes for a couple of hours in the afternoon) and then asking for their thoughts, if they thought she needed a gp or a chat with the health visitor, but she's even worse today, currently fast asleep on the sofa. So I'm not sending her to nursery like this.

Our doctors are utterly useless so if I call them they'll say she's got no temperature and drinking fluids, no vomiting so she's fine. Does anyone have any advice or ideas? Would you call the gp anyway? I think I will.

Have you done a LFT?

Naameechaangee · 14/04/2022 10:35

Sorry yes I should have said. Negative lft yesterday.

Mine used to be off before a development jump, is that her pattern ? It's like their brain was sorting out the jump so it impacted on their day to day behavior.

Also when I say last Monday I mean this Monday, as in the 11th. So only on day 4 now

It could be @Marblessolveeverything did yours get very quiet too? She's not talking a lot, especially this morning and when she has spoke it's been completely random. Early I asked if she was okay and she replied "Grandad doesn't have cats at his house" 🤷‍♀️

I'd imagine she's having some sort of developmental spurt. As it's only day 4, see how she goes over the weekend, but without anything other than a change in personality, I don't think the GP or HV will do much.

Oh, just found this on BabyCentre, which seems to tie in 👍🏼

I'm probably being over anxious I know. It's just so unlike her. I'll see how she does

It could just be a virus- not all virus' give you a runny nose and tempere. If she's her usual self keep her off nursery, rather than send her in and ask them if they think she needs to see a GP. She probably needs a few days rest.

FionnulaTheCooler · 14/04/2022 10:48

I'd get her checked for an ear infection, my DD had a similar thing at that age, seemed generally unwell and off her food even though there was no temperature and I didn't realise it was an ear infection until gross looking discharge started leaking from her ear, she hadn't been complaining of pain or rubbing at her ear previous to this so it hadn't occurred to me.

catelina · 14/04/2022 10:59

I'd get her checked tbh. The random talking in itself is reason to push for a GP appointment.

Naameechaangee · 14/04/2022 14:01

She's still sleeping, I canceled nursery as she was supposed to be there at 12. Hopefully a good sleep will do her good.

My 3yr old was like this last year, upset, clingy and really 'on edge' but no physical symptoms at all. 8 days later she was covered in chickenpox spots. So could be an early sign of illness, some viruses have a 2-3 week incubation period. Hope she is back to normal soon

Marblessolveeverything · 14/04/2022 18:44

Yep, my pair always had a few strange days before any big development leap. Of course I forgot more times than I remembered 😹. If they have no obvious temp or health concerns it may be a leap. Of course if it goes on follow up.

Maray1967 · 14/04/2022 19:13

Yes, my first thought here was DS1 was very strange and quiet the day before chickenpox erupted, but if it’s not a virus of some sort it might be a development leap. Hope she recovers quickly.

Topjoe19 · 14/04/2022 20:14

Was also thinking chicken pox, has she had that?

orangetriangle · 14/04/2022 20:17

has she recently had a vaccination of any kind? If she has please get her checked out xx

Naameechaangee · 14/04/2022 20:35

Not had chicken pox yet and also no vaccination lately. She's got a fever now so must be coming down with something and it had been bothering her for the past few days.
