Toddler just wandered off with kettle bell?!?

My 16 month old just picked up a 2.5kg kettle bell and dandered off with it! I grabbed it off her as soon as I noticed, but it's it normal for a toddler to be able to lift that much weight? I assumed she'd never be able to lift it and hadn't put it away, am I going to have to babyproof for heavy things now too?

Has she been at the spinach?

Santaslittlemelter · 13/04/2022 19:49

Yes. They’re ridiculously strong.

My 23 month old picked up a bowling ball and started walking off with it when we went a few weeks back…

They are mini hulks!

Yes for their size they're very strong, and there's that death grip they seem to have which helps!

GreenLunchBox · 13/04/2022 20:27

🤣😍

catfunk · 13/04/2022 20:31

Toddlers have a lot of upper body strength from pulling themselves up before they can walk... and a really strong grip

Bornsloppy · 13/04/2022 20:34

Mine likes to carry the full 4 pint bottle of milk round.🤷

Mariposista · 13/04/2022 20:55

This is cute. Get her some baby gym gear and sign her up to Body Pump classes 🤣🤣🤣

RewildingAmbridge · 13/04/2022 20:58

I questioned similar when my under two year old moved the solid wood Dining table! Google told me pound for pound they are literally stronger than an ox at that age. (I don't know if this is actually true)

I go to a mum fitness class and my titchy 11 month old loves a dumbell, not that heavy though!

2.5kg kettle bell !!!
Blimey what's your kettle like?
Our kettle only has a whistle but it doesn't weigh anywhere near that.
Confused

Ifeellikedancing · 13/04/2022 21:13

I was in the supermarket with me 2 year old and wondered why he was slowing down (holding my hand at the time). I turned round and he had picked up a huge, bright pink bottle of screenwash and he was carrying it one handed!

MariaDingbat · 13/04/2022 21:14

The toddler grip is something else too isn't it? When she wants something is almost impossible to pry it out of her tiny adorable vice like hands. I'm doing a sweep of the house for heavy things, hopefully there'll be nothing left in the morning she can drop on her feet or hulk throw at us :)

GrinGrin not sure if you're joking or not?! A kettle bell is nothing to do with a kettle. It's a weight, used for exercise classes.

In case this is serious, a kettle bell is something you exercise with!
Garman · 13/04/2022 21:21

My then 3 year old could lift a 10kg Kettlebell and take off down the hall with it, always thought he was going to drop it on his toes but he never did.

MadameOvary81 · 13/04/2022 21:24

They're like iron men at that age. My son's toy car went under the sofa yesterday and he pushed the sofa out from the wall with my 10 stone partner sitting on it. I guess he really wanted his car back. lol

MadameOvary81 · 13/04/2022 21:25

I should have added, he's 3!

Yup, DS has been picking up my kettle bells and wondering off with them from a very young age. They're like little hulks.

The funniest was when we found massive branch that fell down during a storm in a nearby wood. DS asked if he could take it home, I said (after inspecting it was safe) yes, if you can get it there. He managed to get it a few metres before he gave up.
