Never get a break

Does anyone else feels like that?
I don't even have two toddlers or multiples or anything more 'challenging'. I'm finding today impossible.
I've 4YO and 6MO. 6MO teething, sleeping barely anything. 4YO on Easter break. Couldn't take them out as I've sprained my ankle and been hobbling for the past week. Only just getting better but no way I can go on any long treks! We have a garden but garden toys are awaiting assembly- waiting for a broken part to be delivered.
DH started a new job so couldn't take any days off.
MIL is coming ONCE this week to help (retired, so could do more, but not interested- I know MN will tell me she doesn't have to but it would be nice!).
I'm just drinking so much coffee. I'm so tired. Please tell me I'm not alone.

Is there any spare money to put DS in sports camp for a day or something like that?

Other then that I empathise it's tough going especially when your not feeling great yourself.
A bit of paw patrol wont hurt him till your back on your feet

Put the tv on! You are setting yourself too high a standard.

We must have watched about 2 hours of Smurfs today- I feel quite lucky it wasn't blooming Peppa Pig!
It just feels so miserable being stuck at home on a sunny day.
So glad to have a coffee machine.

Is so incredibly intense sometimes isn’t it?

The buck stops with you; you’re the entertainment, the comfort, the nourishment and the doctor all in one. You’re going to be shit at something, you’re not super human.

Can you make a makeshift goal post in the garden or something?

Paints? Paint one wall in his bedroom with whatever’s in the garage?

Do something that seems extreme but will be so exciting for him that it’ll keep him occupied for a bit 😂.

Be kind to yourself! You’ve got an injury, you’re not sleeping and you have a 4 year old and a baby! Some days are worse than others….and not getting out means no other adult to talk to….hence the post!
I’ve no advice really but just sending a virtual hug and telling you it will get better. FlowersBrew and Wine for later

I'm seriously dreading summer holidays, I think I better check if there are any cheap holiday clubs as the little one will be probably cutting canines by then!

Drink less coffee it just causes jitters. Camomile tea instead.

newrubylane · 11/04/2022 17:52

Have already told my DP that he had better think about booking some time off over the summer holidays or I'll actually go insane. 3yo twins are usually in playgroup 3 mornings a week - just enough time for me (SAHM because who can offer to out twins through a private nursery?) to catch a break and get some housework done! Everyone is ill (including MIL who is meant to be coming to stay on Weds - so at least I'll have some help for a couple of days, assuming she gets better and can make it). But yes, it is relentless, exhausting and I drink allllll the coffee. Not even sunny here and no one seems to feel like going outside with runny noses (least of all me), so we've been colouring, doing play doh and watching lots of kids music videos on YouTube all day. Also, DP wfh, so he pops down occasionally and they tell him everything mummy has done wrong since they last saw him, e.g. giving them the 'wrong' snacks, taking toys off them when they hit me with them, not being able to identify the right video based on such obscure descriptions as 'the animals with the red and blue'. Roll on bedtime...

'afford to put twins through a private nursery' even
Chely · 11/04/2022 18:17

Yep. Got 6 kids 8mth - 16yrs (inc a set of twins), dh has been working away for over a month (we've done much longer blocks before).
It's crap but you just have to enjoy the good bits when they happen.

CrapColdCoffee · 11/04/2022 18:25

I know I only have two, I cannot fathom having any more. You are superheroes! Husband is now back, I'm in the bedroom with the baby listening to soothing music. Hopefully she'll be down in a moment and then I can go get us some crappy premade dinner. I'm not even sorry!

Summer hols I work one day ds at nursery. He does another half day so I can have a break. Dh takes a day off or he has a day at mils. So then I'm down to 2.5 days in which we see friends or family or have trips to park etc. plus we try to have a weeks holiday.
