Fingers in mouth

Hey. Removed my boys dummy back in January. There was resistance for a while but not mentioned it at all, now he keeps putting two fingers in his mouth. They are causing him to dribble and his mouth / chin to be sore. I am also worried it will affect his teeth?!
Any tips

How old is he? If he's very young (under 2) it'll cause no harm, just allow him to self soothe.

When we wanted DS to stop sucking his thumb, we put anti nail buting varnish on. He stopped within a few weeks.
