9 months not really responding to name

My LG turned 9mon on 1st of the month. Decided to read up on milestones just purely out of interest as I know they’re mainly just rough guidelines. However I read that between 7-9m my LG should be responding to her name. So the last day or so I’ve been consciously trying calling her name to see if she responds. She doesn’t seem to be or very occasionally. She will be crawling away (off to get up to mischief 😅) and nothing just carrying one of she’s sitting and playing she’s intently focused on something nothing. I find myself saying her name quite loudly to which she will then turn around but I don’t know if that just the shock of the loud noise or her actually responding. Few points I’m a FTM 🙄 absolutely no issues with her hearing. she is an extremely nosey baby she she will happily sit and stare at people and seems so intrigued by people and also by new things. Recently took her to a soft play and she was too busy looking what everyone else was doing rather than actually playing very much. Just wondering at what age your babies responded for some reassurance really. TIA

Please do not obsess over this or other dmall milestone! It is the bigger picture
Unless you concerned about hearing in which case get a test
She busy happy playing smiling etc engaged
Keep talking to her as usual show herself jn mirror looks its babyCrypton
She will learn who is who

Stop testing her!

My DS definitely didn’t respond to his name at 9 months. Was absolutely fine in his 1 year development check.

Please don’t worry, a lot of the milestones things are very variable.

You say you've started using her name a lot - how much were you using it before? It's very easy to slip into not using their name, because when you're talking to them you just talk, and you probably start by saying "hello gorgeous!" anyway Grin

It could just be that she hasn't actually connected this set of sounds with meaning her yet.

Seems a bit young to me. More like 12 months for that milestone.

I could have written this post myself. Your lg sounds just like my ds and he is 9 months today. Been worried sick because my son doesn’t point, respond to his name, understand ‘no’ etc. But I have realised maybe I shouldn’t read these and overthink (hard not to, I know) and let him develop at his own pace, and I’m sure your dd is doing the same x

Any update on your little one?

Cryptonfactor · 25/07/2022 19:15

so LG is now 1 and so much has changed. We are now confident she responds the majority of the time when we use her name unless she’s watching Cocomelon and then you’ve absolutely no chance of getting her attention 🙄🙃.

Any updates on this thread???? I have the same problem

Cryptonfactor · 31/07/2022 20:20

@gceceelia yes! My update is above. As everyone said to me honestly try not to worry. My LG is 13months tomorrow and is definitely responding to her name now. Started really noticing around 11-12 months. This is of course unless she’s watching Cocomelon and you’ve absolutely no chance of getting her attention! 😅
