DD hasn’t eaten today

My DD is 23months and has tonsillitis she’s been off her food for a few days but snacking on and off, today she’s been sick twice? Looked like scrambled egg (I assume it’s milk) but she hasn’t eaten a single thing she’s been offered today, she’s had juice and a few bottles of milk, will she be okay? She’s in bed now but I have major mum guilt I feel like I should have done more today to fill her little belly 😔

It was whole milk she’s had today

My DS often had days like tbis when he had tonsillitis (got regularly between 1-3 years so feel your pain!)

If she's drinking I wouldn't worry, especially milk. Yoghurts and ice lollies would sometimes tempt DS if you could try those but generally i think if fluids going in it's fine. When I have tonsillitis I don't really eat either!

My dd used to get tonsillitis or ear infections lots. The first thing that would go when she was ill was food. Keep offering food but she will be ok on milk for a day or so. It probably feels much better than anything else does! You could try some cool drinks or ice lollies too.

Dd also used to be sick a lot when she had tonsillitis as her gag reflex was sensitive.

Will be fine. My 23 mo had a sickness bug a few weeks ago and didn’t eat from Sat night to Wed. Drs were happy as long as she was drinking/ had wet nappies.

Another one with a similar aged DC that just had tonsillitis. He would eat yoghurts and some dry crackers but that was about it. Plenty milk and water though so I wasn’t concerned.

She'll be fine. Illness and infection dulls the appetite. She's had some nutrition. That's all you can do. Mine are 20,17 and 13 and I remember feeling just the same when they were ill. Try to get some rest yourself and know you've done great.

My ds was exactly the same. He had tonsillitis and ear infections every few months for about 18 months.
Ice lolly's are soothing, I bought the vit c ones or milk lolly's.
Fresh fruit juices rather than dilute as an alternative.
When in that funny not fully better but improving stage I found custard went down a treat, it's easy to swallow and thick and filling too.
Hope they recover soon

Tonisilitis does funny things to your tummy. My daughter had it in September and was sick a few times. Don’t worry about the food - as long as they are drinking, they’ll be ok. When my daughter is ill, she often just eats ice cream and biscuits. Have you got antibiotics yet?

Yeah she’s on day 4 of a 5 day course
