Changing 10 month olds middle name

Please be kind. My baby who is 10 month old has the middle name of my partners father. Since the baby’s birth it has come out that my baby’s father has been accused and is likely guilty of a fairly awful crime. I naturally can’t go into details. We’re considering changing the baby’s middle name as a result but I’m not sure how easy it is or what the process is? We are in England and the baby was born in England. Thanks in advance.

I should add - I’m asking here because I understand that it’s easy to change a baby’s first name before 12 months but I can’t find anything online about changing a middle name

It is easy in the first 12 months, sorry I can't help just wanted to send you that must have been difficult. I'm sure you will find a perfect middle name and no one need know there was a previous one.

Thank you @Ducksurprise it’s all been so horrid. It’s the name of both his father and my grandfather, so it seemed perfect but it’s tainted now and I can’t move past it. We already have a passport with this middle name on it, I wonder if this will matter?

Contact the registry office and ask them what you need to do. You may have to do it through deed poll.
