Cold sores and 3-week old baby

Hi, my baby was born 3 weeks ago, and at night I realised that I have cold sores. Before I realised that, I kissed him on his cheeks and forehead yesterday evening, and now I'm scared that I might have passed it to him. I had cold sores before and also during pregnancy a couple of times, and I'm exclusively breastfeeding him. Do you have experience with a similar situation? I'm freaking out that I might have harmed him. Thank you so much!

I have genital herpes so similar situation, my baby is now 1. At that age it's likely your baby will have antibodies in his system still so sure he'll be fine. It's also more likely to pass to him if you had kissed him on the mouth with an active blister, I would try not to worry. Maybe speak to the gp just to help with your fears but they'll probably just tell you to keep an eye for any symptoms over the next 2 weeks.
I understand it is really scary, but try not to worry! ❤️

Thank you very much for your response @Flopsy! I'll try to calm down but it's so difficult! I'll keep an eye on any symptoms but I believe that our babies will be fine.

Hi @Chick12, luckily everything went well. When I had the cold sore I washed my hands properly, didn't kiss my baby and, in the end, also wore a mask while I breasfed him.

I had horrendous cold sores when ds was a baby as I was so run down from lack of sleep. He's a teenager now and never had one so just be careful but try not to worry too much.
