2 yo blood in diarrhoea, what to do?

My son is 2 1/2 and we've been on holiday this week. He's been fine in himself but had one hard stool 2 days ago then a bit of diarrhoea yesterday/pooing more than normal yesterday. I just changed his nappy and it wasn't loads or blood but definitely pink and a tiny bit wet poo like he'd passed wind a bit - sorry for tmi - and I'm not sure what to do. We go home tomorrow so should I call my dr then? As I say he seems fine in himself really if a little more irritable but he's teething as well. I'm not sure if I need to do anything or not, he's not had this before. Thanks.

My so had this a few times, doctor did a stool sample but kept insisiting it was probably an anal tear caused by constipation (which was so annoying cos I know what goes in and what comes out and there wasn’t constipation!)

However we then discovered he’s intolerant to wheat so it was probably to do with thatnI guess.

Anyway if it was bright red blood you can be less concerned than if it was old dark blood and speak to your doctor yes.

Thanks for your message! I'll contact my dr when we're home tomorrow to be safe and keep and eye on him. He's still eating an drinking like normal and seems fine and it was definitely pinky and not dark. Hopefully it'll clear up x

I think if it's fresh blood it's likely just a small anal tear from the hard poo. It it's dark red or old blood then it's worth speaking to a Dr but as you're home tomorrow either way I would wait to speak to his actual doc ☺️ sounds pretty normal though and if he's well in himself that's the main thing

Thanks both, I was a bit worried but feel better getting your opinions. It's not happened again when I've changed him today and he's still eating fine even tho he said his tummy aches earlier - but he says that for attention half the time anyway 😅 keeping an eye and I'll speak to our dr when we get back if I see anything again!
